For the deregulated market in Texas, grid operators dispatch power plants based on which are available and their marginal cost of operation. They create a dispatch curve, also called a bid dispatch stack (or simply bid stack), that plots marginal cost (in dollars per megawatt-hours (MWh)) against capacity (in megawatts (MW)).
